TL;DR: GHRP-2 is a growth hormone-releasing peptide that activates the ghrelin receptor to trigger a strong pulse of growth hormone from the pituitary. It is one of the classic secretagogues in endocrine research — potent, but less selective than newer peptides like ipamorelin. Everything below is research context; Helix North does not currently supply it.

What Is GHRP-2?

GHRP-2 (growth hormone-releasing peptide 2, also called pralmorelin) is a synthetic peptide in the GHRP class. Like the hunger hormone ghrelin, it activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) — and that receptor, beyond appetite, is a powerful driver of growth hormone release.

It is one of the earlier, most-studied secretagogues, which makes it a common reference point in the literature. Helix North discusses GHRP-2 as a research compound; it is not currently in the catalog.

How GHRP-2 Works

By binding the ghrelin receptor on the pituitary and hypothalamus, GHRP-2 does two things researchers care about: it directly stimulates growth hormone release, and it appears to ease the somatostatin brake that normally limits it. The result is a strong, distinct GH pulse. Because it mimics ghrelin, it also tends to stimulate appetite — a research consideration when isolating growth-hormone effects.

GHRP-2 vs Ipamorelin vs GHRP-6

The GHRPs differ mainly in selectivity — how much they do beyond releasing growth hormone.

PeptideGH releaseOther signaling
GHRP-2StrongRaises cortisol, prolactin, appetite
GHRP-6StrongStrong appetite stimulation
IpamorelinModerate-strongMost selective · minimal extras

GHRP-2 is often studied alongside a GHRH analog. For that pairing and how the two peptide classes complement each other, see our CJC-1295 and ipamorelin research overview.

Research Handling & Reconstitution

GHRP-2 ships as a lyophilized powder reconstituted with bacteriostatic water; a reconstitution calculator sets the concentration. Refrigerate after mixing and minimize freeze-thaw cycles — see the peptide storage and handling guide. Laboratory-handling mechanics only, not dosing recommendations.

Research Status & Availability

GHRP-2 is not currently part of the Helix North catalog. Researchers studying recovery and tissue-repair peptides can explore BPC-157 and TB-500, or browse the full Canadian research peptides range.
