TL;DR: CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are two different growth hormone secretagogues that both push the pituitary to release growth hormone — through different receptors. Combined, they produce a larger, synergistic release than either alone, because they act on complementary parts of the same control system. Everything below is research context; Helix North does not currently supply these peptides.
CJC-1295: A Synthetic GHRH
CJC-1295 is a lab-made analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), the signal the brain uses to tell the pituitary to release growth hormone. It binds the GHRH receptor on pituitary cells and triggers growth hormone release in pulses.
The DAC version (Drug Affinity Complex) carries an extra chemical tail that locks onto serum albumin in the blood, extending its half-life from minutes to days. The non-DAC version — often called Mod GRF 1-29 — keeps the GHRH activity but skips the albumin tail, so it clears faster and produces sharper, more pulse-like bursts. Choosing between them is a research-design decision about pulse shape and duration.
Ipamorelin: A Cleaner GHRP
Ipamorelin is a different class of peptide — a growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP). Rather than the GHRH receptor, it acts on the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). Ghrelin is best known as the hunger hormone, but its receptor also strongly drives growth hormone release.
What makes ipamorelin notable is its selectivity. Older GHRPs like GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 also raised cortisol, prolactin and hunger signaling; ipamorelin, at typical research concentrations, produces growth hormone release without those extras.
Why Combine Them?
Natural growth hormone release is controlled by two opposing systems: GHRH (the accelerator) and somatostatin (the brake). Ghrelin signaling does two useful things — it directly stimulates release, and it appears to suppress the somatostatin brake.
So pairing a GHRH-like peptide (CJC-1295) with a ghrelin-like peptide (ipamorelin) hits both sides at once: more accelerator, less brake. The combined release is bigger than the sum of either peptide alone — a true synergy rather than simple addition.
Synergistic growth hormone release from GHRH+GHRP pairing is one of the most consistent findings across decades of pituitary research, replicated across many independent labs.
CJC-1295 vs Ipamorelin at a Glance
| Peptide | Class | Receptor | Research role |
|---|---|---|---|
| CJC-1295 | GHRH analog | GHRH receptor | Sustained GH pulses · the accelerator |
| Ipamorelin | Selective GHRP | Ghrelin / GHS-R1a | GH release + eases the somatostatin brake |
Research Handling & Reconstitution
Both peptides ship as freeze-dried powder for reconstitution with bacteriostatic water; a reconstitution calculator handles the concentration math. Refrigerate after mixing, keep out of light, and split into aliquots to minimize freeze-thaw exposure — see the peptide storage and handling guide for detail. These are handling mechanics for laboratory use only — not dosing recommendations, and not for human use.
Research Status & Availability
CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are among the most-studied growth hormone secretagogues, but Helix North does not currently carry them. Researchers studying recovery and tissue-repair peptides can explore BPC-157 and TB-500, while those working on metabolic peptides can review the GLP research peptide line.
