Semax is a short peptide developed in Russia, based on a fragment of a natural hormone called ACTH. It's been studied there for decades, which is why the research base looks different from most Western peptides.
This is the N-acetyl form, sold as NA-Semax: the same peptide with an acetyl group capping its starting end. That cap is a standard way to slow breakdown by enzymes. Most published research used plain Semax.
Work on it focuses on brain signalling — particularly BDNF, a protein involved in how nerve cells grow and connect.
